Most issues brought before the legislature are, by their very nature, able to be handled by compromise, and finding common ground with which to work. I certainly support working together with anyone in government to reach such common goals. There are, however, some issues which are non-negotiable. Our civil liberties, enumerated in the bill of rights, are, by their very nature, incapable of compromise. Giving in a little on freedom of speech, assembly, religion, and others is a bridge too far. I will always be a staunch advocate for our freedoms, knowing that to do otherwise endangers our very system of government.
